Wood Burning Basics
Bob Gorman, Natural Resource & Community Development Faculty, Cooperative Extension Service - University of Alaska Fairbanks will cover the basics of wood burning in this timely presentation. Discussion will include wood burning device options (catalytic stoves, non catalytic stoves, pellet stoves, outdoor wood boilers, fireplaces, barrel burners); wood fuel options (firewood - differences in BTU among different species and importance of drying and splitting firewood-, pellets and compressed wood waste fuels);
proper installation of vents and wood burning devices; wood heating, health and safety.
This program may run longer than the scheduled hour. Posters and fact sheets will be at the ANB/ANS hall during the potluck and the public library the following week.
